Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Information Desk Clerk - St. Peter's Hospital - FT Days Position Summary: Information Desk Clerk acts as receptionist to surgical patients and families providing directions, patient information and answers to general requests for information assistance. Patient information is provided for all telephone requests. Staff are responsible for supporting volunteer surgery receptionists in providing a communications link from the OR to families waiting in the lobby. Work involves excellent interpersonal and telephone skills, the ability to handle several requests at a time and a complete knowledge of the hospital's physical setting and staffing. Shift 9:00am -5:00pm Principal Responsibilities: 1. Acts as receptionist to all visitors. Provides accurate directions to all hospital locations. Responds promptly and courteously to all visitors. 2. Provides patient information for all telephone and visitor requests. Answers the telephone within 2-3 rings. Provides accurate patient information. Maintains patient confidentiality. Troubleshoots problems in appropriate manner. 3. Maintains daily surgical schedule and information for families waiting in lobby in coordination with assigned volunteers. Provides support when volunteer is not available. Maintains awareness of family needs, notifying appropriate departments as necessary. Education Requirements: High School Diploma Experience Requirements: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills. Previous public contact experience in a high activity atmosphere. High level of accuracy. Pay Range: $16.70 - $24.20 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
