Position Summary: The Office of Student Enrollment (OSE) manages admissions, enrollment, and transfers for students in 3K through grade 12 in districts 1-32 and 75 (not including charters). Additionally, the office oversees Family Welcome Centers (FWC), which are family-facing offices that conduct enrollment and childcare eligibility transactions. The Office of Student Enrollment supports the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS)’s core mission by designing and implementing enrollment and admissions policies and processes that provide all students with access to high-quality public schools.
The Student Enrollment Coordinator helps to implement key workstreams across OSE by liaising with various stakeholders to determine needs, completing a flow of tasks to ensure workstream completion, and developing resources and support for partners. In addition, this position participates in policy and process discussions to support the continuous improvement in maintaining systems that support the goals of OSE and NYCPS. Performs related work.
Reports to: Senior Director of Admissions
Direct Reports: N/A
Key Relationships: Works closely with various teams across the Office of Student Enrollment, other NYCPS offices, and school staff.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing, planning, researching, and coordinating relevant Student Enrollment events/ trainings.
- Plans, implements, coordinates and monitors OSE programs and admission process, which provide critical services to families.
- Collaborates and coordinates with school staff, families, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders regarding educational initiatives about admissions and enrollment.
- Coordinates the development and distribution of data related to applicants, seats, demographics, and other enrollment-related information, which can be used by principals, Family Welcome Centers, and other stakeholders staff to make informed decisions.
- Works with the others in OSE to develop systems and processes that lead to smooth implementation of admissions-related workstreams.
- Coordinates and supports the office in addressing priorities, policies, and procedures related to admissions and making recommendations for process improvements.
- Takes the lead on developing resources to support school staff, Family Welcome Centers, and community-based organizations in explaining admissions and enrollment practices.
- Facilitates presentations to school staff, families, and community organizations pertaining to admissions and enrollment.
- Represents OSE at internal and external meetings, as assigned.
Minimum
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.
- Experience working in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with NYCPS landscape.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify issues and inconsistencies in data.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform independently.
- Superior ability to prepare clear and cogent written documents and to make presentations.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills in dealing with administrative and school-based personnel.
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritize in a demanding environment.
- Interest and/or experience in education and public policy.
- Community-related experience and/or experience working with families, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions.
