Major Responsibilities
- Under direction of the Deputy Director of Capital Estimating, perform responsible work in the planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of landscape architecture projects for the Capital Projects Division.
- Conduct quantity estimating and prepare comprehensive manpower, equipment, and material project costs for in-house designed landscape architecture projects for the Capital Projects division. Typical project scopes include the reconstruction and new development of parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, sports courts, field lighting, fencing, green infrastructure, storm water management and waterfront structures.
- Work with landscape architects and other stakeholders to align project scope and estimates at several milestones throughout the design process to ensure projects are within allocated budgets.
- Conduct research and develop unit costs for various standard and custom park construction items using specialized estimating software.
- Review project costs prepared by consultant designers and recommend modifications, if needed.
- Prepare new needs estimates for potential project sites to facilitate Agency requests for capital funded improvements to park assets.
- Formulate independent cost estimates for change order work in construction when requested.

Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- A thorough understanding of general construction pricing. 2. Familiar with R.S. Means and the ability to perform quantity take-off using construction plans and specifications. 3. A thorough understanding of prevailing wage laws and other applicable City procurement rules and regulations. 4. Experience with Sage-Timberline or similar estimating software. 5. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD and Bluebeam. 6. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. 7. Driver license valid in New York State.
