The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives (DMSI) ensures that City government solves problems through holistic, accountable, and transparent means. With a focus on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans and operations in an equitable and sustainable way.
The Deputy Mayor also oversees the following agencies and offices: the Department of Youth and Community Development, the Office of Food Policy, the Office of Non-Profit Services, the Office of Childcare and Early Childhood Education, the Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence, the Office of Youth Employment, the Children’s Cabinet, and the Commission on Gender Equity.
Under the direction of the Senior Advisor team, the Policy Advisor will perform the following functions:

- Project Management – Assist in overseeing and monitoring projects, legislation, and policy initiatives
- Research & Analysis – Assist other staff members in performing qualitative and quantitative research in

Minimum Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- You can work independently and within a fast-paced environment, as well as thrive in a collaborative and supportive team environment. - You are a self-starter who positively contributes to a learning culture and collaborative team and is willing to perform the full range of tasks required in a dynamic and rapidly responsive organization. - You are highly analytical, and data driven. - You have a thorough knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - You have exceptional written, oral communication, and presentation skills. - You have experience working with multiple stakeholders. - And you must maintain confidentiality and use outstanding judgment daily.
