Job Description:
The Department of Small Business Services seeks a Senior Community Liaison to expand the reach of SBS’s services and ensure equity in all agency outreach to jobseekers, small business owners, and community-based organizations. The Senior Community Liaison will be responsible for building deep relationships with local economic development and community-based organizations through stakeholder engagement and on-the-ground outreach in order to build and drive a pipeline of clients to SBS programs.
The Senior Community Liaison will report to the Executive Director for Outreach & M/WBE Recruitment, and work closely with the Agency’s Intergovernmental, Communications, and Programmatic Divisions to ensure consistent and strategic public engagement that drives towards programmatic pipeline needs.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with local community-based organizations, small businesses, job seekers, City agencies, and others
- Create opportunities and conduct on-the-ground outreach to small businesses and job seekers across the city in order to achieve pipeline goals
- Work with SBS program teams to develop and execute outreach strategies to meet pipeline goals
- Plan and execute outreach events including large scale events like the NYC Small Business Month Expo, and others as needed
- Educate stakeholders on SBS services and resources, including through tabling, public presentations, workshops, roundtables, and corridor walkthroughs
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and tracking towards goals in order to make and inform strategic outreach decisions
- Coordinate with contracted vendors to ensure that deliverables are met for Chamber on-the-Go and the Small Business Resource Network, which partners with local chambers of commerce to raise awareness of SBS services
- Represent SBS and the SBS Commissioner at events
- Work collaboratively with SBS Divisions (Business Services, Citywide Workforce Opportunity, Neighborhood Development, Economic and Financial Opportunity, and Industry Partnerships) as well as the Intergovernmental Affairs, Communications, and Emergency Response units
- Operate dynamically to assess urgent needs on a timely basis
- Strong networking and partnership development experience
- Experience with community organizing

- Ability to work in a high-pace environment and flexibility with regard to work hours

- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
