The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The Correctional Intelligence Bureau (CIB) is seeking an Investigator who will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into departmental violations and criminal activity. The ideal candidate will have strong background in criminal investigations, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and challenging environment.

- Evaluate the reliability of incoming intelligence, assess its impact on existing
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share intelligence and

- Maintain detailed records and case files to support investigations and legal proceedings.

Minimum Qualifications
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of accounting, auditing, correction administration, criminal justice administration and planning, forensic science, inspection, investigation, law enforcement, personnel administration, police science, and security, or in a major operational area of the agency in which the appointment is to be made; or
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
- Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
- Experience working in a correctional or law enforcement setting. PEACE OFFICER STATUS REQUIRED. - Certification in gang investigation, intelligence analysis, or related fields. - Knowledge of contraband, narcotics, and gang-related trends and tactics. - Bilingual proficiency (Spanish) is a plus. - Ability and willingness to learn how to identify and investigate security risk groups (gangs) and criminal activities. - Strong background in criminal investigations, with a focus on narcotics, gang-related crimes, and other criminal activities. - Ability to evaluate intelligence reliability, assess threats, and identify emerging trends. - Excellent attention to detail and commitment to justice and integrity. - Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills. - Ability to testify and defend findings in administrative and criminal proceedings. - Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to shifting priorities. - Must pass a thorough background check and meet all departmental requirements.
