The Team You’ll Work With
The Office is the intergovernmental liaison between the City government and the State government
and is responsible for presenting the City's interests to the NYS Legislature, the Governor, and State
Agencies.
The Problems You’ll Solve
As a member of the Intergovernmental Affairs senior team, the Director will:
- Manage external relations with the New York City Assembly, Senate, Governor, and State
- Manage legislative portfolios and responsibilities with State Legislative Affairs staff.
- In coordination with the Mayor’s IGA Office, respond to inquiries and requests from state
- Advocate for policies benefitting New York City on the state level.
- Secure state grants, make comments on legislation, and manage state appropriations.
- Prepare talking points, presentations, and briefings for the Mayor, Deputy Mayors, and other
- Create strategic plans and advocate for state policies and new initiatives, raise awareness
- Monitor, research, and distribute relevant state updates to IGA staff.
- Track and archive all engagement relevant to the State Legislative Affairs Office.
- Reviews of all state legislation that affects the City of New York.
- Will leverage their expertise and relationships to advance the Mayor’s legislative agenda as
- Manage a staff of Legislative Representatives who assist in achieving these objectives.
About You
- You have a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, required; plus, a

Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is $185,000 to $197,287.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
factors.
