New York City Tourism Conventions is the official destination marketing organization (DMO) and convention and visitors bureau (CVB) for the five boroughs of NYC. POSITION SUMMARY:
This freelance position serves as part of NYC Tourism Conventions’ Creative/Content team, closely collaborating with the Global Communications team. The Corporate and B2B Communications writer will create and refine corporate materials, scripts and B2B content, collaborating across key departments including Global Communications, Editorial, Marketing, Convention Sales, Tourism Development, Membership and with our executive staff. Remit for this position includes drafting our Annual Report, as well as scripts for meetings and other events.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of crafting compelling narratives that position NYC as a leading global tourism destination, addressing both business and consumer audiences. Our organization is seeking a creative storyteller, strategic thinker and experienced project manager to help shape our organizational messaging and support critical communication needs. This role is based in New York and reports to the Executive Vice President of Creative/Content.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate closely with senior leadership across the office of the President & CEO and the Executive, Communications, Creative/Content, Marketing, Convention Sales, Tourism Development and Membership teams to help shape the business narrative of NYC Tourism Conventions
- Support the creation and management of internal communications by planning and producing newsletters, board communications, B2B content and collateral, meeting scripts, letters, reports and executive talking points
- Effectively manage multiple projects and balance competing organizational priorities, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling information related to internal and board meetings, events and strategic initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least seven years of professional experience in Content, Communications or a related role, ideally at a DMO, agency or similar organization (focused on tourism and/or hospitality)
- Fluency in B2B marketing within tourism and hospitality, including experience with Convention Sales and Tourism Development
- Skilled storyteller who can craft engaging narratives and distill complex ideas into concise talking points, speeches and sound bites for verbal and written communications
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with successful outcomes
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for internal, consumer and professional audiences across traditional, digital and emerging platforms
- Ability to work well with diverse teams and senior executives across the organization
- Effective communicator capable of delivering presentations live or through multimedia in a clear, engaging way
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams), Zoom, Basecamp, Slack, SharePoint and other project management tools
