Planner is a key member of the mining team, supporting the maintenance goals, and objectives by utilizing the Nyrstar computerized maintenance program to develop and monitor the mining asset maintenance plan.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Safety:
- Demonstrate and promote safe behavior at all times; report all SHEC incidents
- Provide clear expectations on performance in SHEC through setting objectives and KPI’s in SHEC for all our employees and contractors
- Ensure all regulatory compliance in relation to safety and health is adhered to
- Achieve Asset Management targets by:
- Assists in developing the mine asset maintenance program and strategy
- Maintaining effective short and long–term maintenance planning and scheduling
- Monitoring for effective preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance procedures
- Assisting in managing the annual budget, Long Range Plan and forecast within asset management team
- Liaising with other personnel within the Mine Operations and Mine Maintenance Team, other supporting departments at the Nyrstar Gordonsville Mining operation, and the contracted suppliers providing direct maintenance parts and support
- Maximizing the utilization of maintenance resources through the development of an effective maintenance plan
- Monitoring the actual maintenance activity, comparing the actual progress as compared to the plan
- Modifying the plan to compensate for variations due to availability of resources, actual work completed or additional work required
- The preparation, maintenance, and updating of job plans for the planned tasks
- Ensuring asset servicing is scheduled in accordance with the accepted intervals and standards and the servicing is performed in a timely manner
- Identifying resources required for the planned task; such as parts, tooling, equipment, materials, work procedures
- Reviewing information from oil samples analysis, component operating hour data, mechanics reports, operating reports and recommended OEM supplier’s component replacement guidelines, to propose and schedule component replacement
- Advising and supporting team leaders with data entry, the backlog work orders, and work order management
- Continuous improvement related maintenance functions
- Monitor all warranty programs, ensure warranty work is claimed in a timely manner, and all warranty issues are resolved
- Participate in the preparation of annual Mine Maintenance budgets and other asset purchases as needed
- Monitoring Maintenance costs and Identifying variance to budget
- Assisting in developing critical path plans, for major shutdowns in a timely manner
- Participation in regular meeting between Mine operations and Mine Maintenance to review daily and weekly work schedules
- Ensuring accurate and necessary data entered into the planning system
- Executing strategies for improving Maintenance performance for the Nyrstar Tennessee Mines including participating in training, maintenance and development of computer-based maintenance management systems
- Monitoring expenditure to be within budget and reforecast as required and report exceptions
- Ensuring all projects are effectively budgeted and monitored to stay within cost constraints
- Understanding cost drivers in the Asset Management department and seeking structural improvement in unit cost performance
- Achieve processing targets by:
- Maintaining effective short and long–term maintenance planning and scheduling
- Assisting to achieve effective preventative and breakdown maintenance procedures
- Liaising with warehouse and suppliers (if appropriate) regarding parts and consumables requirements and plans
- Continually reviewing the most appropriate maintenance planning methods, techniques, equipment and plans
- Assisting with the coordinating of maintenance personnel
- Monitoring actual performance against targets and reporting variances in a timely manner to assist in corrective action to maintain targets
- Provide progressive Processing operations through:
- Keeping up to date with new developments in techniques and data processing for maintenance of equipment
- Reviewing and implementing new techniques and procedures that will streamline maintenance planning processes as appropriate
- Submission of proposals for more effective and efficient procedures and methods
- Support for and adherence to the Nyrstar Values and Behavior expectations
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- 3 - 7 years’ experience with maintenance operations, planning, scheduling, or project management
- Desire Mine maintenance or Heavy industry experience. Supervisory experience a plus
- Experience in working with budgets and capital cost expectations
- Comprehensive understanding of workflow processes
- Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent technical knowledge and skills, including a broad understanding of planning, scheduling and maintenance concepts, with an ability to coach and foster talent in others
- Strong organizational and operational skills
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and a “team-oriented” approach to the achievement of tasks
- Proficiency in relevant SAP software or other CMMS package
- Strong PC skills using office software such as MS Project, Excel, Word and Power Point
