What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Manager - Tennessee Mines position at Nyrstar East Tennessee Mines?
The Role:
As a senior member of the Nyrstar Tennessee Mines management team, this role is responsible for managing the human resource's function, including but not limited to, employee relations, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, training and development and employee welfare. Also provides strategic support and direction to the business on people related matters. The holder of the position will be located in ETN in the Strawberry Plains Office with occasional trips to the MTN mines in Gordonsville, TN.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety, Health & Environment:
Ensure compliance with statutory / legislative and corporate requirements
Integrate SHE initiatives into departmental planning, decision making, systems and processes
Promote awareness and establish appropriate departmental targets to prevent harm
Ensure all hazards and sources of loss are identified, evaluated, and controlled in accordance with Nyrstar SHE Policies and the Safety Management Standards
Be accountable for safety, health and environment activities within your department
Ensure fitness for work compliance throughout workforce
Develop a high level of safety and environmental awareness amongst your team
Function/ Production:
Consistently apply workplace management procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, agreed values and behaviors and Nyrstar Code of Conduct
Appropriately prioritizing activity to continuously achieve targets
Establish processes/systems to align with the Business Plan and assist in exceeding expectations
Ensure the human resource services are efficiently and effectively delivered (consistent with to Nyrstar Group standards and statutory requirements) and support Nyrstar Tennessee Mine’s strategic plan
Develop and implement human resource strategy for Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
Develop and implement the diversity, equity and inclusion strategy for Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
Maintain and provide advice to management team on human resource issues and systems
Management of training and development opportunities for all personnel
Lead recruitment, selection and termination of employment
Ensure HR are involved in workers compensation claims management
Ensure compliance with State and Federal legislative requirements
Consistently apply Workplace Management Procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, visions and values, and Nyrstar Code of Conduct.
Ensure all reporting requirements are met on time with correct, accurate information and maintain accurate records to meet Nyrstar group standards and ensure statutory compliance
Ensure Human Resource policies are established, maintained, and communicated to internal customers
Audit compliance with all HR systems, policies and procedures and make improvement recommendations, ensuring implementation and monitoring of corrective action
Ensure reporting and recording requirements are maintained accurately and on time and that communication channels for relaying information to appropriate personnel are maintained and improved
Where necessary, conduct investigations and oversee management of personnel records
Provide and ensure effective leadership, performance management, career development and succession planning of department personnel.
Coordinate the Human Resources department budget to achieve the Strategic Plan
Manage expenditure to within budget levels
Ensure all projects are effectively budgeted and monitored to within cost constraints
Understand cost drivers in the Human Resources department and seek structural improvement in cost performance
Manage human resources strategically within the HR department
Ensure departmental practices support effective employee relations
Ensure employees are trained and held accountable for performance through established performance management systems
Align departmental and employee objectives to the site Business Plan
Promote and manage effective leadership, performance management, career development and succession planning of HR team personnel
Required Education and Qualifications:
Essential:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or an associated field
8 years extensive experience in general Human Resource functions
2 years supervisory experience
Desirable:
Professional certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
