Duties Description
This position is for I-81 Viaduct Project Design Coordinator Travel to Syracuse will be required on a regular basis. This position is responsible for providing expertise and guidance related to highway design. Key duties and responsibilities include:
Candidates must have a valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License with current registration and at least 2 years of post-licensure civil engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems.

- Review contract documents and assist with procurement, pre-bid conferences, and evaluations.
- Coordinate activities with other Department staff, contractors, consultants, and public agencies.
- Support Department safety vision and comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintain accountability for safety performance of all project staff.
- Sign “Approved for Construction” drawings
- Attend progress meetings, develop status reports, and deliver presentations as required
- Meet regularly with Department, contractors, designers, and other consultant staff to monitor and coordinate all phases of the priority project.
- Manage, supervise, train and lead assigned design units and staff. Ensure compliance with Department policies, procedures, and guidelines. Communicate goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with Main Office design groups and bureaus to ensure the design/analysis and policies are met and adhered to;
- Manage the design needs of the project with an emphasis on scope, schedule, quality and procedural compliance.
- Manage the preparation of project reports, plans, specifications and estimates by design staff and consultant staff.
- Ensure projects are developed according to applicable design quality standards and environmental processes and regulations. Ensure proper coordination with project stakeholders.
- Provide construction technical support for the project. Coordinate with consultant staff, regional staff and Main Office bureaus as necessary to arrive at timely, cost effective, and sound engineering solutions to design problems during construction.

Salary : $111,925 - $141,439
