- Documentation: Learn to document mental health sessions accurately, maintaining organized patient electronic health records in compliance with state legislation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate program within behavioral health (social work, psychology, sociology, community counseling, family social science, child development, child psychology, community mental health, addiction counseling, counseling and guidance, special education, nursing), and must be eligible to receive internship credit through your school.
- Previous experience (preferred but not required): Ideal candidates will have had previous experience working with individuals who have a mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or development disabilities.
- This experience could include, but is not limited to: direct support professional experience, paraprofessional work, working as a psychiatric aid, etc.
- Passion: Demonstrated passion and interest in the mental health field.
- Credit hours: must have completed 30 semester credit hours or 40 quarter credit hours prior to starting your internship.
- Reliable transportation: Must have access to a personal vehicle to use during the internship to get to client appointments.
