Job purpose
Perform dimensional and visual inspections on incoming and in-house products in accordance with the established quality procedures. Quality inspections, testing, documentation, creating reports and maintaining communication between QA and all other departments.
Duties and responsibilities
- Comply with safety regulations and procedures.
- Understand and follow work instructions and quality procedures.
- Perform daily assigned tasks by working independently following the FIFO method (First in – First Out), unless otherwise instructed by the Quality Supervisor.
- Inspect incoming components using the IIS (Incoming Inspection Sheet) form.
- Understand & Interpretate CMM inspection results, to accept or reject product.
- Verify and validate that manufactured and/or incoming products and documents conform to latest drawing’s revisions in EPDM database, PPS is approved to current drawing revision, and waiver periods are up to date.
- Update report in ERP (D365) to reflect the status of incoming inspections.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to perform tasks, including micrometers, calipers, vision system, hardness testers, attribute, and variable gauges, CMM’s and any specialty gauges for unique setups and operations.
- Document and maintain inspection records in accordance with the established quality procedures.
- Scan and save daily completed inspections’ packing slips into the company’s network by the end of each working day, for traceability records.
- Must be able to communicate any issue arising while performing inspections to the Quality Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Responsible to support Capability Studies.
- Reject unacceptable materials and process in accordance with established quality procedures.
- Isolate dispositioned scrap material, and document for further processing and destruction in accordance with the established quality procedures.
- Proficient using ERP System, to complete inspection transactions.
- Support operating CMM’s or in Cognivision as needed within the department
- Must be accountable to meet Quality Department’s KPIs
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and orderly work area.
- Maintain a 5's work environment.
- Serve as a member of the QC Team, supporting coworkers and offering ideas for improvement.
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and individually.
- Must be able to follow instructions and be detailed oriented.
- Must have knowledge in blueprint reading and GD&T
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to details.
- Interpretation of manufacturing documents and process (BOM, Operation Sheet, Drawings, PPS, Waivers)
- Speak, read, and write English.
- Proficient in use of measuring instruments such as CMM, Calipers, Micrometers, Scale, Hight Gage, Comparator.
- Proficient in using computers, including the use of Microsoft office.
- A minimum of two years’ experience.
Working conditions
Exposure to shop elements makes it less desirable than found in an office environment.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to move, lift, transport items at minimum of 25 lbs.
- Stand a minimum of 8 hours.
- Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and emails.
