What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator and Dept. Chair of Alternative Programming, Intervention, and Support Services position at O'Fallon Township High School District 203?
SUMMARY
The primary functions of the Coordinator and Department Chair of Alternative Programming, Intervention, and Support Services are to (a) coordinate alternative educational services and placements (b) monitor student progress and implement intervention services and support as appropriate (c) oversee homebound processes (d) oversee credit recovery programming (e) provide vision, leadership, management and oversight for the operations and personnel of the OTHS Support Services Department (currently ESS, AAC, LMS, and PACE).
DUTIES
- Oversee alternative placement and services
- Facilitate collaboration with Administration, Guidance, Social Work, SOS team, PACE instructor, and others as appropriate to implement alternative and intervention services
- Monitor student progress (attendance, academic, etc.) and provide academic support
- Serve as liaison with families, conduct home visits
- Train users on alternative education platform
- Confer with administration in advance of Discipline Review Hearings to determine appropriate placement recommendations
- Coordinate homebound instruction
- Provide assistance and support to address chronic absenteeism and truancy
- Serve as team leader for Staff Offering Support teams
- Provide leadership for Support Services Department
- Participate in the evaluation of personnel as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess a Professional Educator’s License with an Administrative endorsement (formerly a Type 75 Certificate), a Professional Educator’s License with a Teacher Leader endorsement (TLAD), or possess a Professional Educator’s License and be working toward completion of the Administrative or Teacher Leader endorsement.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation for Teaching Positions and Department Chairperson Positions are based on Appendix “A” and “D”, “e” (respectively) of the Agreement between the Board of Education, O’Fallon Township High School District No. 203 and the O’Fallon Federation of Teachers, O’Fallon, Illinois 62269 (Collective Bargaining Agreement). This position is eligible for health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid-time off, and tuition assistance. This position participates in the Teachers Retirement System (TRS).
