What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at O-Flex Metal Finishing?
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Manager is a "Hands on Manager" responsible for leading the overall quality of product and processes within the plant. the Quality Manager serves as Management Representative for the O-Flex Business System (OBS). The Quality Manager is responsible for effective implementation of the O-Flex Continuous Improvement program demonstrating proper use of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Properly administers and follows all company policies Including Safety, Quality, and Environmental.
- Supports O-Flex Strategic Goals and Objectives in the performance of daily activities.
- Participates as a active member of the Management Staff. Including determination, tracking, analysis, and monthly reporting of Key Measurables.
- Champion of PLEX Manufacturing Cloud in performance of daily quality functions and continuous improvement activity.
- Works with Director of Operations to update and maintain the O-Flex Business System to meet requirements of IATF and ISO 14001.
- Owner of O-Flex Key Processes including Nonconformance, Corrective Action, Internal Audit, Calibration, Document Control, and Management Review.
- Tracking, reporting, and analysis of internal and external scrap and defect including First Pass Yield and Cost of Poor Quality.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts to reduce Scrap, Defect, and Cost of Poor Quality rates and increase First Pass Yield.
- Maintains Document Control system including OBS Documents in addition to Supplier Quality Assurance Manuals and Customer Specific specifications.
- Leader of the Internal Auditing Process, which includes Manufacturing Process Audits, Product Audits, O-Flex Business System audits, and customer or industry specific audits such as CQI-12.
- Facilitates cross-functional APQP/PPAP processes. Works closely with managers from Team Feasibility, through Project Launch, PPAP Approval, and Phase outs.
- Creates, Maintains, and Improves Process Flow diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans and Check sheets utilizing PLEX.
- Responsible for the Supervision, Development and Evaluation the Quality Engineers and Technicians.
- Maintains working knowledge of current Customer Specific requirements and ensures organizational compliance.
- Leader of Continuous Improvements efforts incorporating best practice of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies utilizing Ples Continuous Improvement and Employee Suggestion Modules.
- Provide timely disposition of suspect parts along with respective records, correspondence, and returns using Plex.
- OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete any additional duties as determined by the Director of Operations.
- Weekly review of Product Launch and APQP assignments.
- Weekly review of Scrap and Defect rates and improvement actions.
- Participate in Annual Quality Plan and Summary.
- Provides accurate monthly reporting and respective improvement action plans for Key Measurables.
- EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS degree or related field (Quality/Industrial Disciplines) Masters Preferred or equivalent experience.
- Five plus (5 ) years' experience in the Automotive Industry (Management & Supervisory experience preferred)
- Industry Experience with Aluminum Anodizing, Coatings, Aluminum Extrusion, Metal Fabrication, Machining and Value-added processing.
- Knowledge of Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, Organizational/Operational Management, and various Metal Finishes.
- Ability to interpret and operate within Automotive Standard TS16949 in addition to AIAG manuals including CQI-12, APQP with Control Plan, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
- Understanding of Quality Systems including Statistics, Data Analysis, Design of Experiments, and Process Capability determination.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation of data to a wide range of audiences; stays calm under pressure and uses data over emotions to support a case.
- PC literacy; ability to use SPC/Technical software for data analysis and worksheets; MS Office, Mini Tab, Plex Manufacturing Cloud.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and demonstrate effective time management abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and other technical specifications; understands and experienced with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
- Experienced in problem solving and Root Cause Analysis while demonstrating effective leadership in working with teams.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Lean Sigma with a record of significant improvements.
- Experience with "Class A" automotive surface finish requirements.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a negligible amount of force to frequently lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking and standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee is aware of potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold). Must be able to work under stress occasioned by personnel, visitors, and the needs of other departments; must utilize proper body mechanics in the performance of duties.
