O’Melveny has an immediate opening for a Litigation Paralegal in our New York office. This role supports numerous firm practices through a wide range of litigation-related paralegal responsibilities.

The salary range in CA for this role is $75,000 - $90,000 and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintains and organizes litigation drive to ensure case documents are easily and promptly accessible to all team members.
  • Coordinates, reviews and maintains project status tracking charts for matters, including any tasks and deliverable requirements.
  • Assists in all phases of discovery, including fact gathering and analysis of documents, document productions, and preparing for depositions and witness interviews.
  • Conducts factual research to support attorney projects.
  • Performs cite checking and proofreading.
  • Coordinates court and agency filings.
  • Communicates with clients, witnesses, and other outside parties as requested or approved by attorneys.
  • Assists attorneys with preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and subpoenas.
  • Assists with trial preparation, including maintenance of case calendars, case files, and trial notebooks.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing traditional, litigation paralegal functions.
  • Experience preparing for and/or attending trial is highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform quality control analysis and report issues with data.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with attorneys, other staff members and external entities.
  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context.
  • Demonstrates extreme attention to detail.
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms (Relativity, Opus2).
  • Flexibility/availability to work overtime as needed.
