Position Summary
The Quality Engineer will support the Quality Manager and the Quality department by understanding the needs of the company and customer and responding appropriately to meet their needs and improve processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement effective process improvements using new approaches, considering organization issues, external factors, and involving all necessary individuals.
- Use conceptual framework and experience to achieve objectives. Define resources necessary for project/program completion. Design experimental programs to optimize the steps required to evaluate and implement new processes or products.
- Plan, organize and manage the achievement of quality goals. Provide direction and guidance in design, development, and application of new technologies. Elaborate technical strategy and promotes introduction of methods, tools, processes, and technologies. Mentor and provide ongoing teaching, guidance, and assistance to others.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external individuals, including management. Understand and presents complex information by adjusting approach based on audience’s level of understanding. Resolve issues and conflicts using effective negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Identify quality roadblocks that impact other departments’ abilities and efficiencies, and work cross-functionally to develop process improvement.
- Identify critical work objectives using knowledge of the company businesses and products and how own function contributes to the business. Monitor and understand the impact of expenditures on business results and customer satisfaction. Apply knowledge of company’s decision-making structure to achieve objectives. Leads the effort to develop work processes and procedures. Present ideas and concepts via formal and informal structure.
- Use understanding of customer needs to anticipate and respond effectively. Integrate customer needs and quality objectives into business objectives and take action to meet customer expectations.
- Stay current on changes, innovations, and trends in focus areas by networking, studying industry publications and attending continuing education events.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, required.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process and equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
- High level of proficiency with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Certificate or Training, preferred.
- Experience with FARO, or other CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
- Experience with various quality processes including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAI) or First Piece Yield (FPY), Advanced Control Plans (CP). CMM experience is preferred.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015.
- Experience with calibration or measuring software. PolyWorks and GAGEpack, preferred.
- Experience with welding inspection and creating of Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), preferred.
- Physical requirements; sitting, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, and the handling of 50lbs or less.
- Conversational English, required.
