Material Handler - 1st Shift - O'Neal Manufacturing Services

Position Summary

The Material Handler may operate forklifts, load trucks, unload and receive parts, pull stock, drive Yard Dogs, assemble products or kits, and generally clean the work area.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Commitment to workplace safety.
• Shipping/Receiving
• Receive inbound inventory, place material into storage, pull inventory from storage to fill customer orders, and load material on trucks and trailers for outbound shipment.
• Utilize hand trucks, forklifts, cranes or other material handling equipment to move material.
• Provide error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
• Work under direct supervision.
• Support the safety and quality programs by following all accompanying rules and established processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Shift 

1st Shift - Overtime availability is subject to shipment scheduling and production requirements.

• Monday - 7:00 AM to 3:30 P
• Tuesday - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Wednesday - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Thursday - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Friday - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Skills and Qualifications

• Simple problem-solving skills.
• Dependability and accuracy using basic math skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Shipping/ Receiving experience (preferred)
• Ability to learn to operate forklifts and cranes.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, and drill.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Has knowledge of commonly used practices, and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Ability to use measuring tools 
• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. repetitively throughout the course of a shift.
• Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist and stoop for long periods of time.
• Ability to walk 2-5 miles throughout the course of a shift.
• Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.
• Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.

• Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors which includes but is not limited to exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises and vibration from use of equipment and the following:

  • Hazards: Variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin- fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
