The O’Neal School in Southern Pines, NC seeks a qualified Academic Enrichment Program Coordinator & Learning Specialist. The major responsibility of the faculty member in this position is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate academic coaching program according to the guidelines provided by The O’Neal School, regulatory agencies, and best practices in the field.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Have knowledge of, uphold, model, and communicate the mission of The O’Neal School.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver academic coaching support appropriate to each identified student.
- Oversee the implementation and proctoring of academic accommodations schoolwide.
- Review and interpret diagnostic reports and utilize information from a variety of sources to create a holistic learning support plan for students with identified disabilities.
- Provide regular written communication to stakeholders on the development and progress of students.
- Stay abreast of developments in the field through reading, research, and professional development, including faculty development days.
- Liaise and collaborate with colleagues, including Division Heads, fellow teachers, counselor, and other resources.
- Participate in sponsorship of student extracurricular activities and other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Experience with formal diagnostic assessment and documented formal training in the ethical administration, scoring, and interpretation of clinical assessments.
- Experience in reviewing and interpreting diagnostic reports and creating learning support plans.
- Knowledge and experience with the full cycle of support services including identification, remediation, diagnosis, and ongoing intervention.
- Previous experience teaching students with learning differences.
- Knowledge of special education laws and best practices for eligibility and services.
- Previous experience with a variety of specialized instructional programs and strategies and/or formal remedial support curriculum.
- Teacher training expertise in a variety of intervention programs for curriculum content in a variety of areas (reading, writing, and math preferred)
- Experience monitoring and supporting classroom implementation of accommodations and supporting teachers with scaffolding and differentiation methods that meet the needs of unique learners.
- Previous experience implementing accommodation plans for students and tracking student progress data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills related to interactions with students, parents, and fellow teachers.
- Ability to facilitate staff development and training in the field of special education and academic support.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow assigned schedule.
- Attention to detail, strong organization skills, and an adherence to timeliness.
