What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Parts Retail Store Leader position at O'Reilly Auto Parts?
The Auto Parts Retail Store Leader is a key member of our team, responsible for supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Managers in areas such as sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. This role involves assuming shift management responsibilities in the absence of Assistant or Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead store team members in providing exceptional customer service to retail and professional customers.
- Supervise customer service levels on the retail showroom, ensuring execution of customer service programs, including Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.
- Ensure telephone calls are answered according to company policy.
- Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner, contacting customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
- Handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure, utilizing electronic outside purchase order ledger.
- Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently and accurately, issuing refunds using the correct payment methods, and processing returned merchandise correctly.
- Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before product leaves the store.
- Communicate Zipline messages and delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
- Evaluate team members' adherence to posted work schedules, changes/deviations, and clocking in/out according to company policy.
This role also includes performing all store opening/closing duties, such as day end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits according to company policy, preparing bank deposits as needed, securing night security lights, locking doors, arming/disarming security alarms, and checking/securing/locking delivery vehicle(s).
Requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Able to obtain RSS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Retail sales experience, preferably in auto parts
- Automotive systems and repair knowledge
- ASE Certification
- Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired)
