Now Hiring: Director of Catering
Location: Embassy Suites by Hilton Denton Convention Center
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead, train, and mentor catering staff, including recruitment, evaluations, and progressive discipline.
- Drive catering revenue to meet or exceed quarterly and annual goals.
- Collaborate on departmental budget management and expense plans.
- Develop action plans and modify strategies based on trends to enhance revenue.
- Meet or exceed sales activity goals, including outside sales, for self and team.
- Track sales using the required sales grid and SOPs.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the Operations team.
- Possess knowledge of food and beverage compositions and understand kitchen and banquet service procedures.
- Ensure adherence to hotel credit procedures and audit guidelines.
- Represent the company within the community, maintaining positive rapport with local organizations.
- Ensure quality standards in guest service and satisfaction are met.
- Lead Banquet Event Order meetings, pre- and post-conference meetings, Sales meetings, etc.
- Embrace O’Reach, Green Team, Guest Service, Team Member Satisfaction, Health & Wellness, and Safety culture.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SalesPro, or Delphi.
- Ability to present professionally and persuasively to individuals and groups.
- Develop sales relationships within the community by attending local events.
- Strong analytical skills for measuring business potential and value to the hotel.
- Ability to motivate team members and handle the pressures of coordinating multiple activities.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Comfortable with high visibility and leadership roles.
Education, Experience & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree required, Hospitality Management preferred.
- 2-4 years of sales and catering experience preferred.
- Hospitality industry experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
- Reliable transportation for work-related purposes.
Hours:
- Schedule may vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Light work, exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally.
- May be required to lift or move in excess of 40 pounds.
Physical Activity:
- Activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, and repetitive motion.
Environmental Conditions:
- Mostly indoor work with some exposure to temperature changes.
