What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Oak Brook Park District?
Learn how to save lives and have fun! No previous training is necessary. Lifeguards are responsible for keeping a vigilant eye on swimmers at our aquatic facilities, keeping a clean environment, and enforcing rules to keep a safe environment for all members, guests, and staff. This position is the perfect opportunity to build confidence, work as a team and learn lifelong life-saving skills.
Our next lifeguard training course is January 29, 30, and 31st from 4-9pm
Essential Job Functions
- Perform lifeguard duties as trained by StarGuard guidelines
- Provide a safe, healthy, enjoyable experience for all swimmers by: enforcing pool rules in a firm but pleasant way, being helpful and friendly to patrons, and being aware and alert at all times while on the job.
- Perform daily assignments for cleaning of the facility.
- Report any broken safety or mechanical equipment to the manager or assistant manager immediately.
- Perform rescues and administer proper care and first aid if an accident or injury occurs.
- Must attend and participate in four hours of in-service trainings per month.
- Review and practice lifeguard skills while on duty
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum age of 16 years old required
- StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Certification (including First Aid and infant, child, and adult CPR).
- Have knowledge of water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment.
