Summary of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant position
The COTA is responsible for promoting, facilitating, and maintaining health, well-being, and participation in life through engagement in occupation. This individual is responsible for all aspects of occupational therapy service delivery provided under a physician approved plan of care and accountable for the safety and effectiveness of the occupational therapy service delivery process.
Qualifications
Requirements of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA):
- Graduate of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
- Current state COTA license.
- Current CPR.
- At least one (1) year experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and priorities at once.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the position.
- Must successfully complete a Post Offer, Pre-employment Criminal Background Check
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) you will work under the supervision of a Registerd Occuptaional Therapist to help individuals regain independance and improve daily living skills.
- To assist in the planning, organizing, developing and delivering of occupational therapy services, in accordance with current applicible Federal, State and Local Standards, guidelines and regulations.
- Provide individual therapy services according to care plans
- Assist in developing therapy plans for residents in conjunction with MDS
- Keep OTR informed of any need to adjust therapy plans and to support goals
- Participate in discharge planning, development and implemenation of occupational therapy services
- Interview, educate and communicate with residents, family members and SNF Staff
- Teach and educate residents on adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Document patient progress and treatment plans accordingly
