The primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized one-on-one services to an individual special education student. The assistant will be responsible for assisting a certificated teacher by providing instructional support and childcare activities as prescribed. Employees in this classification receive direct to general supervision from a certificated teacher within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures.
Oak Grove School District has a total student enrollment of approximately 8,800 students from grades TK-8. We have 18 school campuses along with a TK-8 Virtual Learning Academy (VLA). Six out of eighteen schools receive Title I funds. The size of the schools range from approximately 730 students to 270 students. The percentage of English Learners is 29% representing 56 languages spoken in the District. Oak Grove School District’s focus is driven by the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) and school site-specific SPSA (Single Plan for Student Achievement) which identifies short, intermediate, and long-term goals. First and foremost in all activities is the safety of students as well as student success in the areas of math and reading/language arts interwoven with science, social studies and visual and performing arts. Student performance goals have been integrated into the state and federal accountability systems.
