Job Title: Instructional Assistant
Reports to: Program Director
Hour: 3.5 hour/day
Details of the position: 3.50 hours/day (FTE .4375)
Start/End Times: M, T, W, F 10:00am - 1:30pm
Th 9:00am - 12:30pm
Salary range: $17.79- $19.62

Definition:
Under the direction and supervision of the site administrator or certificated designee, the Instructional Assistant will perform the necessary duties to assist in the planning and implementation of an instructional program for the regular and special needs of students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists teachers in the planning and preparing of lessons and other classroom duties.
Reinforces and differentiates instruction as directed by the teacher: monitor and oversees student projects and assignments in various subjects
Works with students in small groups, or on a one-to-one basis to reinforce basic skills or to supplement classroom work in English and/or Spanish
Prepares for, assists with, and cleans up for various classroom projects
Operates a variety of office and classroom equipment
Administers and grades various types of tests and assignments
Keeps routine records and communicates with administration and staff concerning students’ needs both academic and behavior
Follows the advice and direction of the Site Director and/or Program Director to ensure consistency in the completion of behavioral intervention strategies and/or use of various teaching techniques
Confers as needed with teacher(s) concerning programs and materials to meet the needs of specifically assigned students and/or small groups
Supervises and/or participates in playground activities, during recess, lunch and other related school activities
Help students develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults; assist students with building self-esteem by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance
Prepares and submits field trip forms, deposits, purchase orders and other school related subscriptions
Attends required staff meetings trainings and in-service meetings
Displays calmness and control while dealing with behavioral problems
Function as an appropriate and professional role model for children
Maintains consistent, punctual attendance
Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher or supervisor
Knowledge and Abilities:
Pass the Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test
Basic subjects taught in District including correct English usage, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, punctuation, as well as general subjects
Basic behavior management and school policies and procedures
Assist with instructional activities in the classroom
Learn the procedures functions and limitations of assigned instructional assistant duties
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with teachers, students and others contacted in the course of the work
Monitor, observe and report student behavior and academic progress
Sit or stand for extended periods of time
Reach overhead, above shoulder and horizontally
Maintain the confidentiality of school related information
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school
Must have one of the following:
o AA or AS degree
o 48 college units/credits
o Passing score of the Sonoma County Office proficiency test
Willing to attend training sessions on topic related to duties
Required Licenses and Certificates:
Criminal Justice/Fingerprint clearance
Mandated Reporter – required annually
Sexual Harassment prevention training
Verification of TB clearance
CSEA approved: February 2, 2020
Board approved: March 11, 2020
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
