Oak Hall School is seeking a certified, experienced Licensed Registered Nurse to serve as a Summer Camp School Nurse on the school health team.

Position Purpose: Oak Hall invites qualified candidates to apply for a camp nurse position. The role of the camp nurse is to ensure the overall health and wellness of the campers on a day-to-day basis. This can include a variety of areas to be listed below. The camp nurse is based out of the clinic but will need to respond to medical issues that may arise around the campus.
This is a temporary position that runs from approximately end of May 2025- end of July 2025.
Responsibilities:
§ Support student success by providing health care through evaluation, and intervention for children in the camp setting.
§ Addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of campers.
§ Provide medical care and treatment, as needed and as appropriate, to children with chronic health issues that require assistance during camp hours.
§ Identifies and escalates as appropriate, abnormal health findings, and reports those findings to parents and as needed, to school personnel.
§ Document health interventions and medications given to students in appropriate nursing format within state law and school policy.
§ Ensures required paperwork for medication administration is completed upon intake of medication and medication is returned to families at the end of camp.
§ Educating appropriate staff on topics ranging from medication administration, diabetic care, basic first aid and emergency procedures.
§ Ensures clinic is appropriately stocked with needed supplies and order supplies as needed.
§ Provides first aid kits and allergy/medication lists along with medications when campers have a day trip to appropriate staff.
§ Administer CPR if needed in emergency situations.
§ Provides and refills basic first aid kits for each camp division.
§ Serve as a health liaison between home and school ensuring appropriate communication when necessary.
§ Maintain confidentiality regarding health matters.
§ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities:
• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR Certification.
• Nursing experience in pediatrics, public health, or school health nursing preferred
• Successful completion of applicable board certifying exam
• Ability to carry out nursing care plans for students with chronic health problems.
• Ability to evaluate students for potential medical concerns and escalate response as appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), with willingness to learn and utilize other internal data platforms
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent bedside manner, with a specific ability to connect and relate to children and adolescents
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• Works in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• Regularly uses close and distance vision
• May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to locate students visually and audibly under their supervision
• Ability to actively circulate throughout the diverse campus environment
• Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment
• Ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
