Job Summary (Essential Functions): The 1901 Grille Host/Hostess is responsible for providing our members and guests with friendly, professional and expedient service to help create memorable dining experiences.

- Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts if needed. Expected to work 40-60 hours per week throughout the year and additional hours during event weeks.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Exceptional knowledge of Oak Hill's food and beverage standards and host operating procedures.
- Exceptional communication abilities to direct the flow of the dining room with the supervision of management.
- Prepares and prints a floor plan with the direction of 1901 Grill management. Ensures tables are assigned according to the floorplan and match up with the reservation sheet.
- Reviews all reservations in the point of sales system (Jonas) prior to each meal period. Makes note of special occasions and/or dietary requirements of members and guests dining at the Club. Relays information to servers accordingly.
- Ensures all menus are accurate and clean prior to service.
- Greets each member and guest during service and ascertains the name, party size and any special requirements.
- Controls the flow of seating to ensure top level service and the success of the service team.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work environment.
- Assists servers, server assistants, food runners and bar staff as needed throughout service.
- Assists members and guests with questions and directions.
- Accepts reservation requests in accordance with Oak Hill policies.
- Carries out bylaws and policies set by the Board of Directors.
- Any, and all other duties, as assigned by the 1901 Sommelier and 1901 Restaurant Manager.
Experience
- Previous hosting experience required. Hosting experience at a fine dining establishment preferred.
Education
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Food safety certification.
- Alcoholic beverage certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements of the job and to work effectively in an environment that is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work.
General Information
Scheduled Shifts: Full-time, year-round position. Days and hours are based on club operations and weather conditions. Regularly works 45 hours per week.
