Oak Hill is seeking an Adaptive Recreation and Camp Manager to oversee the development and facilitation of Camp Harkness and recreation programming and staffing, and the care of campers with physical and developmental disabilities. As head of the Camps & Recreation Leadership Team, they oversee all camp management and supervision for all programmatic aspects of camp for year-round camp experiences. The Camp Manager works Monday-Friday 8a-4p with evening and weekend flexibility required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in related field preferred
  • Experience working with people who have disabilities, in camping and/or in a supervisor capacity
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, proficient technical skills including computer work (Microsoft office suite), ability to meet deadlines
  • Interacts well with varying ages and cultures
  • This position requires initial certification and annual recertification of all DDS mandated trainings and agency sponsored requirements, which includes, but is not limited to Human Rights, Abuse and Neglect: Mealtime routines and meal preparation; CPR, First Aid; PMT, OSHA; DDS Water Safety; Medication Administration Certification, Dementia Training and Vital Signs and delegation training.
  • Valid driver’s license in the United States is also required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop adaptive recreation activities and social events as well as off-season and summer camp opportunities to meet the needs of those we serve by creating thorough and organized plans for all activities being offered, specifically outlining supply, staffing, transportation, or any other needs.
  • Promotion and registration of programming including the effective management of sensitive and HIPPA protected information; assist in recruitment for prospective participants and campers.
  • Proactive communication with caregivers and support staff is key; effectively manage camper and caregiver concerns in collaboration with staff and Oak Hill leadership; assists in providing an atmosphere conducive to the development of good morale, safety, well-being and accessible recreational opportunities.
  • Maintain and review records and evaluations of all operations and staff; prepare an evaluation and summary of current recreational opportunities and camp season, including inventories, staff evaluations, incident and accident reports, participant/camper reports and recommendations for any necessary changes; maintain communication with leadership.
  • Staff and camper management: develop routines, schedules, and procedures for camp operation; assign staff and campers to cabins and groups; prepares and assists in conducting pre camp and ongoing training and in services; assign staff responsibilities and activities; lead and mentor staff, provide guidance; manage disciplinary issues; supervise and evaluate all operations and program staff; conduct staff meetings.
  • Maintain a presence at camp for all sessions including orientation; orders supplies, and equipment, and arrange for proper distribution; manage inventory, opening and closing day as well as general policies and procedures for staff and campers; defines and monitor a safety and crisis management plan in collaboration with leadership, including emergency procedures; organizes and approved trips out of camp for alternative programming. Hands-on modeling required in training staff and providing needed supports.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations set forth by governing agencies and camp guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Community Programs.
