Job Summary:
The role of the Non-Medical Transportation Driver involves transporting individuals to and from adult day services, integrated employment, supported community employment, supported enclave employment, and/or vocational habilitation. Drivers will utilize agency vehicles and adhere to all agency and state driver regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate transportation needs of the facility and substitute as needed to meet facility's transportation requirements.
Care Plan Implementation:
- Coordinate transportation schedule.
- Communicate with department heads, nursing staff, dietary staff, residents, and their responsible parties.
- Transport individuals within designated timelines.
- Adhere to all agency and state driver regulations.
- Complete all required forms, reports, and documentation.
- Optimize routes to ensure they are effective and efficient on a regular basis and as routes change.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisor, family members, individuals supported, and outside agencies.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance per current rules and regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
- Review and submit mileage documentation in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and expectations.
- Coordinate and report vehicle concerns to supervisor and maintain cleanliness of company vehicles.
- Ensure the safety of individuals and staff at NMT programs at all times and report any known safety concerns to supervisor immediately.
- Report allegations of sexual harassment to supervisor immediately.
- Report injuries requiring medical attention to supervisor immediately and complete required documentation within 24 hours.
- Report vehicle accidents to supervisor immediately and complete required documentation within 24 hours.
- Contribute to ongoing marketing of CDS, including the NMT program.
- In the absence of supervisor, contact Administrator or Director of Nursing Services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Driving Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Must be able to operate all agency vehicles, ramps, and lifts.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be 18 years or older with a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Clean driving records establishing full compliance with drivers' standards listed in employee handbook.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must present a courteous and professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to convey the scope of services available through the program and agency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail required.
- Strong time management skills and problem-solving capabilities necessary.
