About the Role
Dates TBD based on Production Schedule for - times are flexible (Monday-Friday, 9am-9pm - based on stage availability and Saturdays, times vary)
The Master Carpenter interacts with and responds to students, staff, parents / guardians, and community members in ways that demonstrates their alignment and agreement with the district's equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7 : 12 : Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.

Make smart purchases and do not overbuy.Create an itemized supply order for the show and present to the Artistic DirectorAfter supply order is approved, place the order and oversee the delivery, load in and storage throughout the productionMeet with the Director for set design and vision - meet set design and build deadlines as agreed uponCommunicate any and all additional expenditures with Artistic Director for purchasing approvalThis job requires flexible hoursPlan, organize and execute the show strikeClearly communicate with the Bravo office weekly hoursWeekend hours and holidays must be approved for custodial coverage - please communicate in advanceOrganize a daily schedule and list of things to be accomplished. Review these goals before and after each dayResponsible for managing and maintaining the set budget for the showManage all set aspects of the shows - design, organization, managing / delegating to other builders and parent volunteers (building, painting, dressing) projection designers, lighting designerOrganize / direct the crew students after school hours to help with construction and painting of the set3 weeks prior to show - work with crew students to understand set moves and crew responsibilitiesCommunicate with stage managers and directors to best achieve the process of integrating the set functions with the productionChart backstage functions for running crew to be organized, productive and successfulMaintain a clean shop, tool shed, stage and work environment. Stage and scene shop should be thoroughly swept after all build is done each day. Stage swept and ready for 3 : 30pm rehearsalsLeave time at the end of the day for stage crew to clean up and prepare for the next dayCheck stage and house to be sure all tools and building supplies are put away after rehearsal and performancesIf a tool is lost, the crew staff is financially responsible. Inventory all supplies daily.Candidate Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years experience working in a professional scene shop or similar related experience with additional experience leading crewsBroad skill base and knowledge in carpentry, rigging, metalworking, and automation installation and operationKnowledge of a wide variety of construction materials and methods used in the theater to construct theatrical sceneryTraining and education in safe operation of stationary and portable power tools, hand tools, stage rigging and equipmentFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and Vector WorksFamiliarity with the Creative Connors System a plusValid driver's license. Must be comfortable driving a scissor liftPhysical Requirements :
This position requires the performance of light work-which may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and / or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
