Overview:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide shipping support to Transportation Management (TM). This includes coordinating shipment pickups throughout the laboratory, processing non-hazardous shipments, logging and filing shipping documents, licensing approval for radioactive shipments, and data input.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Shipping:
- Performs the various duties associated with shipping, including ordering and receipt of materials (i.e., FedEx supplies, UPS supplies)
- Advises and assists ORNL employees in shipping materials
- Processes domestic shipments of non-hazardous materials for small package/parcel carriers.
- Traces and expedites outbound shipments. Works with and directs work activity of Material Clerk (bargaining unit employee)
- Arranges for pickup of outbound shipments from main campus, including SNS and HFIR/off-site locations including NTRC and Commerce Park
- Updates, documents, distributes, and files transportation related documents
- Interfaces with vendors for pickup of returned material
- Inputs outbound FedEx and UPS shipments into their shipment programs
- Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health and quality program requirements
- Perform work safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and procedures
- Interface with Transportation Specialists concerning potential regulated material and truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments
Radioactive Material License Verification:
- Log request into License Verification Access database
- Send e-mail to recipient requesting permission to ship
- Sign-off check sheet – either as initial reviewer or second reviewer
- Send approved/completed paperwork to RAMSPAC
Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant shipping operations experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Requires a thorough working knowledge of shipping policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal skills, and oral and written communications. Experience with Microsoft Office 365, PALS, PAS and SAP is a plus. Must be able to multi-task. Must be able to function in a fast paced environment and in high pressure situations.
