Applications for Adjunct Instructors are accepted on a continuous basis. All Adjunct Instructors are hired on an as-needed basis throughout the Academic Year, depending on enrollment needs. When there is a hiring need, received applications are reviewed and interviews are scheduled/conducted directly by the Academic Department.
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach anticipated Dental Hygiene courses, which range from basic to advanced skill levels. Where applicable, adjuncts are required to maintain and/or provide licensure and certifications.
Typical Duties
- Provides classroom, clinical, and/or lab instruction in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation
- Primary responsibility includes teaching in the classroom and/or lab while aligning with objectives and outcomes for the department
- Analyzes student learning outcomes for courses taught and revises teaching based upon findings
- Provides course student learning outcomes to department
- Prompt completion of student grades and classroom work
- Expected to be reliable, responsible, professional, and efficient with schedule and teaching assignment
- Collaborates with other faculty and administration to support student success
- Use technology appropriate to the nature and objectives of the course/program, including the college learning management system Desire to Learn (D2L) and Zoom software
- Pursue continued professional development in the subject(s) taught
- Maintain required credentials, licensing, and continuing education hours as discipline standards dictate
- Hold required office hours based upon credit hours taught
- Experience and ability to work with multi-cultural students and staff
- Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Dental Hygiene or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene and 1-year experience
- Current Michigan license as a Registered Dental Hygienist
- Certification in Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Sedation
- Experience with multicultural students and staff preferred
- Ability to work as a team player in a multicultural working environment
