Serving approximately 800 students from grades 6-12, OSA is dedicated to fostering both artistic expression and academic excellence.
We are currently seeking a Humanities Teacher to join our Middle School team in the 2025-2026 school year. The Humanities Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction in English Language Arts and History, utilizing the arts as a conduit to enhance learning and student engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in humanities education, a commitment to fostering critical thinking and creativity, and a passion for working with diverse learners in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement a rigorous and engaging curriculum in English Language Arts and History aligned with state standards.
- Develop and deliver creative, interdisciplinary lessons that integrate the arts and humanities.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
- Foster students' critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills through discussion, projects, and inquiry-based learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to enhance curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Maintain strong classroom management practices that promote a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administrators regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in humanities education and arts integration.
Education, Work Experience, and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid California Teaching Credential – Multiple Subject or Single Subject in English or History, with English Learner Authorization.
- Prior teaching experience in English Language Arts and/or History at the middle school level preferred.
- Experience or interest in integrating the arts within the humanities curriculum.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual 1.00 FTE salary for this role will be $65,607.22 - $81,549.04. Salary will be based on the OSA certificated salary scale and is commensurate with experience and credentials. OSA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, commuter benefits, employee assistance program, and retirement plans. This is a 186-day position aligned with the school year calendar.
