Serving approximately 800 students from grades 6-12, OSA is dedicated to fostering both artistic expression and academic excellence.
We are currently seeking a Physical Education (PE) Teacher. The PE Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing an engaging and effective physical education program that fosters physical fitness, teamwork, and a lifelong commitment to health and wellness among students. The ideal candidate will design and deliver instruction aligned with state standards, assess student progress, and create a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of the OSA community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver PE lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, and knowledge of health and wellness.
- Develop curriculum and activities aligned with state and national standards for physical education.
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive peer interactions through structured activities and games.
- Monitor and evaluate students' physical abilities, progress, and overall participation.
- Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment that supports all students.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to support school-wide programs and initiatives.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as sports teams or intramural programs, as needed.
- Manage and maintain sports equipment and PE facilities.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administrators regarding student progress and program goals.
Education, Work Experience, and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid California Teaching Credential in Multiple Subject or Single Subject in Physical Education.
- Experience teaching physical education at the middle or high school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical fitness principles, sports, and wellness education.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for diverse learners.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual 1.00 FTE salary for this role will be $65,607.22 - $81,549.04. Salary will be based on the OSA certificated salary scale and is commensurate with experience and credentials. OSA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, commuter benefits, employee assistance program, and retirement plans. This is a 186-day position aligned with the school year calendar.
