DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance & Grounds Worker to join our team. This position ensures that the district's buildings, grounds, and outdoor spaces are maintained to provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in maintenance, grounds keeping, or a related field preferred
- Valid Driver's License and be eligible for coverage under the district's insurance carrier
- Strong knowledge of grounds keeping equipment and landscaping
- Ability to solve practical problems and diagnose basic plumbing, electrical and equipment malfunctions
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions and work independently to complete tasks or duties assigned
- Ability to continuously stand / walk / bend / reach / stoop / kneel / crouch / lift, climb ladders, lift, transport and move items weighting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to properly operate tools / equipment necessary to perform required tasks
- Possess basic computer skills to enter information into a work order system and research repair methods as needed
- Ability to assess situations, prioritize multiple tasks, problem-solve and work effectively under stress within deadlines and changes in work priorities
- Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
