Position: Employee Relations Manager
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing guidance on all aspects of employee relations and performance management. This role will play a key part in fostering fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices across multiple locations within a mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations Investigations:
Conduct legally compliant investigations into workplace concerns with an eye towards fairness.
Prepare investigative reports and present findings to leadership.
Collaborate with stakeholders to implement appropriate resolutions aligned with policies and best practices.
Draft critical documents, including disciplinary notices, separation letters, and formal communications related to investigations.
Provide coaching and real-time support to leadership during sensitive meetings, including termination discussions.
Performance Management:
Advise leadership on employee relations matters, including policy interpretation and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Support managers in addressing performance concerns, including developing and implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
Hold regular office hours for staff to address HR-related inquiries and escalate issues as needed.
Maintain accurate and organized case data in the employee relations case management system.
Leave of Absence Management:
Manage accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), facilitating the interactive process.
Provide guidance on medical leave administration and assess employee eligibility for leave programs.
Oversee workers' compensation claims in collaboration with external partners to ensure timely processing and compliance.
Policies and Training:
Develop and facilitate training sessions on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Analyze trends in employee relations cases to enhance policy awareness and training programs.
Partner with leadership to reinforce policies through ongoing professional development initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
5 years of experience in Employee Relations, Human Resources, or a related field with strong knowledge of employment laws and best practices.
HR certification preferred.
Experience conducting workplace investigations and providing strategic employee relations guidance.
Familiarity with leave administration, ADA accommodations, and compliance with FMLA and Title IX.
Proficiency in HR case management tools and systems.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.
Ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
Collaborative mindset with a strong work ethic and commitment to continuous learning.
PLEASE NOTE: This role entails visiting multiple client locations throughout Brooklyn and Queens, with the ability to work from home or regional office in Lower Manhattan when not at client site visits. Our client is providing neither sponsorship nor relocation for this position.
Compensation & Benefits:
