Our client is a leading international law firm with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional legal services. They are renowned for their expertise across a wide range of practice areas. They are now seeking an HR Director to oversee their HR operations in the US.

We are only considering candidates with background in professional services at this time. Preferance for candidates with HR leadership experience at a law firm.

JOB TITLE: Regional Director of HR - US
TEAM: Human Resources (HR)
LOCATION: Basking Ridge, US

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Regional Managing Partner - US, US leadership, Chief People Officer, and other regional directors, offering guidance in alignment with the firm's vision and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Oversee and lead all aspects of the US HR function, including performance management, promotions, learning and development, compensation and benefits, leave management, grievances, employment terminations, diversity and inclusion, recruitment, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Develop and mentor regional HR team members to maintain excellent service standards and a strong professional reputation.
  • Evaluate and enhance internal processes and systems for efficient HR operations.
  • Manage HR elements of global and regional projects, including office openings, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Provide counsel to partners and supervisors on employment-related matters.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the regional HR team and annual key processes (e.g., salary review, promotions, and appraisals), ensuring alignment with the Regional Managing Partner.
  • Identify and support the development of top talent for succession planning.
  • Collaborate with global HR leaders on strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee the US HR budget alongside regional leadership, ensuring effective management and alignment with global priorities.
  • Monitor and respond to financial trends related to HR, such as workload distribution and spend.
  • Consult with legal counsel on significant employment matters and conduct employment-related investigations when necessary.
  • Shape the regional learning and development strategy in collaboration with global HR teams.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to enhance access and representation within the organization.
  • Oversee recruitment, ensuring adherence to headcount and budgetary approvals.
  • Lead the US Reward strategy, aligning with global practices and ensuring market competitiveness.
  • Oversee annual insurance renewals and benefit offerings, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement plans.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Maintain high service standards for internal clients and uphold the professional reputation of the HR function.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships across the firm.
  • Maintain confidentiality and trust at all times.
  • Support the firm's values through approachable, supportive, and straightforward communication.
  • Undertake training as required and ensure safe workplace practices.

HR TEAM OVERVIEW
The HR team supports the firm with all people-related matters. It operates across multiple global locations, including the US, UK, EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regions. Core responsibilities of the HR team include business partnering, recruitment, reward, HR systems and analytics, learning and development, corporate social responsibility, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Regional HR Director will report to the Regional Managing Partner - US and the Chief People Officer.

SALARY: $190,000 - $210,000 per year

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Hybrid (3 days per week in office)

This is a dynamic role, and responsibilities may evolve in line with organizational objectives
