Overview:
The Chemistry Lab Assistant Student Employee will assist the Chemistry department in organizing and maintaining a clean and safe chemistry laboratory. Daily tasks include setting up and tearing down labs, preparing chemical solutions, cleaning equipment and communicating issues to the lab supervisor.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes :
-Helps to set up experiments, make solutions, clean and maintain laboratories in the chemistry area. (CD)
- Clean glassware & instruments, restocks shelves. (CD)
- During semester breaks, clean student drawers, and laboratory equipment. (CD)
- Able to work with a team and independently, able to multitask & quick learner. (TW, CT)
- Some computer knowledge (Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Suite). (TC, CM)
- Adhere to written and verbal safety rules. (PF)
- Must be dependable and efficient. (PF)

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Other abilities):
- Enrolled in at least six credit hours during the spring semester.
- Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
- 1 semester of college chemistry or 1 year of high school chemistry required.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment.
- Must be willing to follow all safety protocols for working in a Chemistry laboratory, including wearing PPE, or proper protective equipment (safety glasses, lab coat), and dress properly (long pants, shoes that completely cover the feet, long hair confined, etc). Note, PPE will be provided to the applicant following the hiring process.
