DESCRIPTION
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 5-7 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred but not required.
- 2-4 years of experience processing payroll is required.
- Knowledge of best practices and methodology related to the operations of a Human Resources Department; understanding principles of benefits administration, recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, employee relations, training and labor laws.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to exercise the utmost confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information and/or situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures HR policies and compliance are applied consistently, comprehensively, and that proper documentation is maintained.
- Advises supervisors and employees on policies and procedures related to personnel management; providing recommendations for training or additional actions as needed.
- Partners with the finance team on all payroll and benefit reconciliation matters.
- Administers employee claims for workers compensation, unemployment, paid family leave, disability, etc.
- Serves as a point of contact for employee questions or complaints, including HR policies, benefits, payroll questions, time off requests, etc.
- Administers employee benefit programs with enrollment and questions.
- Works with the Director of Human Resources to conduct initial investigations and provide resolution.
- Assists in communications between employees and supervisors. Provides guidance with all of the steps in the disciplinary action process when necessary.
- Coordinates employee social engagement and morale building activities in collaboration with Oakwood staff.
- Updates job descriptions on a regular basis to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Works directly with supervisors to recruit, interview, select and hire staff, including implementing and continuously improving upon a comprehensive onboarding and new hire orientation for new employees.
- Assists Payroll Staff in the preparation, tracking and reporting for semi-monthly payroll. Provides backup to the Payroll staff member and processes payroll when needed.
- Ensures the information in the HRIS system is up to date and accurate.
- Manages employee exit/termination process; conducts and participates in all exit interviews.
- Maintains and updates all electronic employee personnel files.
- Ensures employee evaluations are conducted and documented. Provides guidance to supervisors in developing employee goals and systems of evaluation or measurement.
- Assists the Director of Human Resources in ensuring that the employees are current with Workplace Violence, Harassment, and Mandated Reporter trainings. Follows up to ensure compliance when necessary.
- Advises management of changes in federal/state and local laws and regulations relating to employees and the workplace environment.
- Helps with gathering all necessary information for Workers Compensation and 403b audits.
- Partners with the Director of Human Resources on additional human resources projects as needed.
