Welcome to Oakwood Sports Center, Glastonbury’s premier destination for sports and entertainment. As part of the National Sport Group (NSG) family, we are proud to be one of Connecticut’s most historic indoor sports facilities, with a rich legacy dating back to the 1970s. Our recent major renovations in the summer of 2024, including a brand-new kitchen and renovated bar, have modernized our amenities while preserving the history that has been built over the past 50 years.
Position Overview: The Camp Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the camp, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all campers and staff. This role involves planning, organizing, and overseeing camp programs and activities, as well as managing staff and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning and Management:
o Develop and implement a diverse range of camp programs that align with the camp’s mission.
o Ensure activities are safe, educational, and enjoyable for campers.
2. Staff Supervision:
o Recruit, train, and supervise camp staff and volunteers.
o Provide ongoing support and evaluation to ensure staff performance aligns with camp standards.
3. Safety and Compliance:
o Enforce health and safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for campers.
o Manage emergency procedures and conduct safety drills.
4. Camper Relations:
o Foster positive relationships with campers, parents, and guardians.
o Resolve conflicts and address camper needs promptly.
5. Budget Management:
o Assist in developing and managing the camp budget.
o Monitor expenses and ensure resource allocation is effective.
6. Community Engagement:
o Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and community members.
o Promote the camp through outreach activities.
7. Administrative Responsibilities:
o Maintain accurate records, including camper registration and attendance.
o Prepare reports and manage communication with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in camp leadership or management.
· Strong leadership and communication skills.
· First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
· Passion for child development and education.
