Job Summary
The Asset Maintenance (AM) Crew Leader position requires work in a fast-paced, team environment in various elements of weather performing multiple job responsibilities, often beside a major roadway. The position requires the safe and efficient use of various tools and pieces of equipment. Crew Leader is a leadership position, requiring the ability to work varying hours daily based on Company needs. This position requires the team member to work well with others under both direct and indirect supervision. This position may interact directly with customers; therefore, customer service skills are required. The AM Crew Leader must possess experience and knowledge of roadway safety. Horticultural knowledge is preferred. Asset Maintenance specifications knowledge is necessary. This position demands attention to detail.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:
- Use and maintain handheld equipment in a safe manner per company and OSHA guidelines.
· Report equipment or safety issues immediately to the crew leader as needed.
· Contribute to and/or conduct safety meetings. Provide clarification as needed.
· Always take a safety-first approach.
· Be willing and engaged in teaching the proper use of equipment and devices.
· Ability to adhere and enforce all Company polices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
·· Ability to retain information regarding job site.
· Ensure understanding of expectation and specifications for each job site and be able to communicate same to crew members (What tasks are currently being completed? What is your part in that task?).
· Communicate effectively and professionally (no cursing, use proper language and clear speech).
· The ability to communicate and work effectively with all crew members.
· Ability to read and write with clear, concise meaning.
· Immediately resolve co-worker or customer conflicts.
· Be courteous to co-workers, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and the public.
· Complete and submit service and company-related documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
· Complete of initial technical training and participation in regular update training to stay current with proven methods and techniques regarding the Green Industries.
· Ask supervisor for any training or clarification necessary to perform assigned tasks.
· Ensure assigned equipment is functioning properly.
· Inspect each work location for areas of concern and resolve issues found.
· Maintain assigned service vehicle, equipment, and tools in clean/good working condition.
· Adhere to all driving laws and Company policies when operating company vehicles.
· Complete assigned tasks promptly, steadily, and safely.
· Complete additional projects as assigned.
· Willingly adjust and adapt to timelines and workloads.
· Help, guide, and encourage coworkers to complete tasks.
· Be willing to do things not assigned to you to help make the crew more efficient.
· Look for ways to be more efficient and encourage others to do the same.
· Be teachable and helpful to your Supervisor.
· Show positive leadership qualities through integrity, positivity, teachability, and striving for better efficiency.
· Respond to requests in a timely manner.
Advanced Tasks:
· When issues arise be engaged in determining and offering possible solutions.
· Conduct pre- and post- vehicle, trailer, and equipment checks as required.
· Be knowledgeable of all MRP requirements within the scope of work to keep project in compliance. When deficiencies are noted that cannot be addressed immediately report them to Supervisor for future work schedule.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills
Required:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Successful completion of Company approved training program.
· Ability to read and write.
· Safety conscious focus.
· Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as the project requires.
· Ability to work more than an 8-hour day if needed to meet goals.
· Valid and insurable driver license (required)
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Must pass seven-year criminal background check.
· Must pass substance abuse testing.
· Must pass seven-year motor vehicle report and meet eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier
· Ability to be on call
Associated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Ability to work and stay on task with limited supervision.
· Ability to learn and identify various plant types.
· Ability to correctly use landscape and irrigation tools.
· Ability to navigate around landscape and irrigation equipment safely.
· Ability to pull a trailer safely, if driving.
· Ability to work on a major roadway safely (conscious of traffic patterns, surroundings, etc.)
