What We Need
Obagi is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee global distribution & logistics requirements including warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, and freight operations across multiple third-party logistics providers (3PLs), vendors, and customers. This person will report directly to our Vice President of Global Operations and partner across departments with various commercial and operational teams to improve processes and standardized delivery operations, domestically and internationally. The Director of Operations will also bring knowledge of how to operate in an FDA regulated environment with prescription dispensed and cosmetic distributed products.

What You’ll Do
- Drive proactive warehousing and freight planning to enable and support volume growth globally.
- Analyze and optimize global distribution operations via 3PLs – domestically and internationally.
- Ensure distribution and logistics capabilities meet or exceed industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.
- Lead and negotiate vendor agreements to minimize costs without compromise to service quality.
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics’ changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, new 3PL partners or carriers.
- Create, enhance, and maintain relationships with external vendors and 3PL partners via business reviews and metrics/scorecards.
- Negotiate warehousing and transportation services agreements in partnership with Legal.
- Guide, maintain and/or implement changes to serialization process for the organization to comply with ongoing FDA requirements.
- Utilize import/export expertise and adhere to global shipping compliance, and trade regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of shipping documentation, including bills and customs declarations.
- Collaborate with business partners, vendors, etc. to drive time and cost efficiencies, and improvements across the entire supply chain.
- Document and refine standard operating procedures, routing guides, etc. with 3PLs and vendors.
- Develop contingency plans to prepare for and quickly resolve challenges and potential business disruptions and minimize gaps in the delivery process.
- Analyze spend patterns/trends, identify opportunities to reduce cost, and utilize data analytics to track, measure, evaluate supplier performance, and recommend solutions and/or changes.
- Accurately forecast distribution and logistics costs and manage adherence to monthly/quarterly budgets.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; a focus in Business Management, Operations Management, or similar related fields strongly preferred.
- At least 10 years of direct leadership and Warehouse/Logistics/Distribution experience with at least 3-5 years of global logistics and freight forwarding knowledge. Prior experience with prescription Rx and pharmaceutical products highly preferred.
- Solid working knowledge of cosmetics, drug/OTC, prescription Rx and wellness products and industry-specific regulatory requirements
- Prior experience with vendor management, cost analysis, 3PL & transportation carrier agreements and demonstrated superior negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of multi-modal logistics pricing models (air, rail, truck, ocean, customs brokerage).
- Strong qualitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills with demonstrated use of analysis and metrics to drive continuous improvement and decision making.
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization/time management skills; demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable operating in a fast paced, ever-changing environment; someone who thrives in ambiguity and adapts quickly.
- Proficiency in Oracle, NetSuite, and warehouse management systems as well as Tableau and/or Business Intelligence reporting tools.
- Experience in modern sourcing tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technologies.
- Flexibility with working with multiple time zones.
- Possess an energetic, positive attitude that encourages a team and supports the growth and professional development of others.
