What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dionysus Attendant Spring 2025 position at Oberlin?
The Dionysus Attendant will serve the campus community as part of the team that operates the ’Sco in Wilder Hall.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service : Provide stellar service and create a positive, safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for a diverse mix of patrons including students, their guests, performers, staff, faculty and community members.
- Door and Room Monitor: Check OCID’s or passes, verify age of patrons, permit or deny entry as appropriate. Deter patrons who are not abiding by policies and regulations.
Setup/Clean up: Assist in room setup and clean up before, during and after events.
- Event Support and Programming: Assist with supervision of ’Sco programs and activities through preparedness, professionalism, collaboration, and awareness of the space/event to create a safe and welcoming environment. Potential to create some in house programs on own and/or with other ’Sco staff members.
Qualifications
Please possess the ability to explain and enforce building and college policies, plus city and state regulations (e.g. fire code capacity, legal drinking age). Additionally, applicants must be willing to work late nights and able to tolerate extended exposure to loud music. This position requires customer service proficiency. Creativity is a bonus for those wishing to engage in program creation. Applicants must attend TIPS training, course and must be at least 18 years of age to work at venue & 19 years of age to serve alcohol. First years or sophomores preferred. Genuine interest in working in a nightclub highly desired.
Compensation
$13.00 per hour
Special Instructions to Applicants
Applicants must complete TIPS training online. Potential for some to start 2/2/2025. Otherwise, these positions will be for Fall 2025 with a start date of Tuesday, 8/26/2025.
