The Office of Communications at Oberlin College and Conservatory seeks applications for the position of video producer. This is a full-time, continuing 12-month administrative and professional staff position reporting to the director of content and social media strategy.
Responsibilities
A key contributor in a highly collaborative, creative, and collegial work environment, the video producer is a multimedia storyteller who creates video and multimedia content to support the strategic, operational, and communications goals of Oberlin College and Conservatory.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for start-to-finish production of videos to be distributed across Oberlin’s digital channels, including YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, TikTok, and institutional webpages
- Works closely with social media colleagues to develop creative brand-aligned videos across platforms
- Collaborates with colleagues across the Oberlin community in the planning and production of videos
- Develop Oberlin’s video content, implement strategy, and build strong community engagement on YouTube
- Supervises and coordinates the work of student employees in the areas of video production and video editing
- Ensures that published videos meet ADA and other accessibility requirements through captioning and subtitling
- Manages and maintains video and photo equipment for the Office of Communications
- Work with the team to support photography efforts and photography asset management
Marginal Job Functions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in video production, cinema studies, or a related field of study, with a minimum of two years of experience in film or video production
- Experience producing short-form content for social media audiences, including animation, reels, shorts, and TikTok
- Strong producer
- Demonstrated proficiency in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other programs within the Adobe Creative Cloud
- Demonstrated knowledge of storytelling principles
- A strong understanding of web codecs and formats to optimize content on multiple platforms
- Excellent organizational, planning, project management, problem-solving, and proven creative skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and collaboratively with various constituents throughout the institution.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment
- Experience with drone videography and/or time-lapse videography
- Broad interests, including an appreciation for and understanding of music, the performing arts, athletics, science, and the humanities
Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
