Position Overview:
Object Construction is seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our team of talented fabricators. The Metal Fabricator will be responsible for cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components for custom scenic elements, including structures such as stairs, railings, columns, and other fabricated parts. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and the ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment to meet project specifications.

The ideal candidate will have strong welding and fabrication skills, with experience in reading blueprints and interpreting technical drawings to deliver high-quality, durable products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabrication & Assembly:
  Fabricate and assemble metal parts, such as steel or aluminum, according to blueprints and technical drawings. Ensure all components fit and meet project specifications.

• Cutting & Measuring:
  Use various cutting tools (saws, torches, plasma cutters, etc.) to shape metal components. Accurately measure and mark cutting lines, ensuring all cuts are clean and precise.

• Welding:
  Perform various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG) to join metal components securely. Check welds for strength and precision, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.

• Tool & Equipment Maintenance:
  Maintain and care for all metal fabrication tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order. Perform routine checks and make necessary repairs to keep tools operational.

• Quality Control:
  Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications and company standards for safety and durability. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues during fabrication.

• Safety Compliance:
  Adhere to all safety protocols and wear proper protective equipment (PPE) when operating machinery and handling metal components. Ensure a safe work environment by following OSHA regulations and company guidelines.

• Collaboration:
  Work closely with other team members, including project managers, carpenters, and scenic artists, to ensure fabrication projects are completed on time and to specification.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator, with expertise in welding and working with metal. Previous experience in scenic fabrication, construction, or manufacturing is a plus.

• Technical Skills:
  Strong knowledge of various fabrication and welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and arc welding). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Physical Requirements:
  Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Must pass a medical evaluation to wear a respirator. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights as needed.

• Detail-Oriented:
  Keen attention to detail with a focus on precision and quality in all fabrication work.

• Problem Solving:
  Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during fabrication.

• Education:
  High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical trade school or welding certification is a plus.

Location:
This position is based in Los Angeles, CA, with full-time, on-site work.
