Position Title: Military Wargaming SME / Content Developer (Secret Clearance, verifiable in DISS required)
Job Status: This is a contingent hire based upon contract award
Work Location: (On site location)
Experience: 20 years of relevant experience
Travel: CONUS and OCONUS Locations (to support wargames)
Background: Marine Corps University (MCU) has established a Wargaming Directorate inside the Brute Krulak Center for Innovation & Future Warfare to provide wargaming support to all resident and non-resident Professional Military Education (PME) courses run by MCU. This wargame support ranges from extra-curricular wargaming activities to elective wargames, and to capstone wargame events for the various MCU PME schools. This also includes conducting Faculty Development (FACDEV) and student training on wargame facilitation, wargame design, wargame planning, and on how to play various wargame systems and tools. The location is the MCU Campus in Quantico, Virginia. Wargame events will vary from Academic Year (AY) to AY and will vary across the schools. MCU also provides occasional direct wargaming assistance to the United States Marine Corps (USMC), joint, or allied operating force staffs to assist them in leveraging wargaming tools in support of unit PME programs and staff planning. The scope of this contract also includes providing direct support to various MCU schools, Training Command (TCOM), and Training and Education Commands (TECOM).
Position Description: II Corps Consultants, Inc. is seeking experienced Military Wargaming SME / Content Developer who possess significant first-hand experience in facilitating a combination of traditional board and computer wargames. The Military Wargaming SME / Content Developer will design, develop, and maintain comprehensive wargaming content in support of Marine Corps University (MCU) educational objectives. Working closely with Wargaming Subject Matter Experts, the role encompasses creating detailed Game Books, Concept Briefs, Scenario Files, Discussion/Facilitation Guides, After-Action Reports, and Student Assessments. Primary duties include developing immersive gaming scenarios, crafting detailed learning objectives, structuring assessment criteria, and ensuring content aligns with MCU's educational goals. The Military Wargaming SME / Content Developer will support faculty development initiatives at Command and Staff College (CSC) while providing General Support to other MCU schools as needed. This role demands strong project management skills, deep understanding of military operations, and the ability to translate complex concepts into engaging educational experiences.

Job Requirements (minimum): Military Wargaming SME / Content Developers shall at a minimum possess a bachelor's degree. Content Developers shall possess significant experience in documenting and developing content for both traditional board wargames and computer wargames. Military Wargaming SME / Content Developers shall possess the capability to create comprehensive instructional materials on wargaming theory, educational wargaming techniques, and wargame facilitation in support of SME instruction. Military Wargaming SME / Content Developers shall have the ability to both develop and format curriculum materials and training documentation to effectively support the mentorship of Marines, Sailors, other service members, Interagency, and International Military Officers through content creation, revision, and updates. Military Wargaming SME / Content Developers require a foundational knowledge of wargaming concepts and associated skills. Military Wargaming SME / Content Developers shall possess the capability to document and support wargaming program assessments or assessment activities. Assessment scope and purpose vary greatly between assessment types.
Highly Desired Skills: A master’s degree in Game Design, Wargame Theory, Military Studies, National Security, or other related fields is preferred. A military background that includes resident or non-resident PME courses at an Intermediate Level School (ILS) (Command & Staff College (CSC) equivalent) is preferred but not required.
