The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business, management required.
- Advanced degree in healthcare, business, management preferred.
- 5 years in progressive, healthcare senior leadership required.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills required.
- Accountable Care Organization experience required.
- Highly analytical, with extensive hospital and clinic operations experience required.
- Requires understanding of the healthcare environment, economics, policy, and finance.
- Critical Access Hospital (CAH) and Rural Health Clinic (RHC) experience preferred.
- Public Hospital District (PHD) experience preferred.
Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer assumes line responsibility and authority for the administrative direction, evaluation, and coordination of the functions and activities of assigned departments within the organization ensuring that operation objectives and results are in accord with the organization's overall needs. This executive role is responsible for ongoing planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's ancillary services, including dietary, facilities, purchasing, physical therapy, imaging, and information technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as a key member of the executive team of the organization and participates in the "Administrator on Call" rotation.
- Provides administrative direction for operations of assigned departments and appraises the performance of the respective department managers.
- Assures compliance with state and federal regulation in assigned departments.
- Recruit, retain, develop, and coach managerial staff and administrative oversight of all staff within the responsible areas, and develop a culture of growth and development for all staff.
- Communicates routinely with the CEO concerning policy recommendations and suggested courses of action pertinent to the efficient operation of assigned departments.
- Implements new policies; disseminates pertinent information following administrative directives; and recommends improvement of hospital facilities in assigned area, including construction or renovation of structures and purchase of new equipment.
- Willingness to accept special projects as assigned and completes them within the required timeframe and financial constraints; leads and serves on committees as assigned.
- Facilitates the Accountable Care Organization meetings and ensures clinics are meeting set goals.
