Ocean Beach Youth Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a fun and safe environment for youth. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Ocean Sports Director.
About the Position
The Ocean Sports Director will be responsible for overseeing our 8-week surf program, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants. The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 21 years of age
- Current waterfront lifeguard certification
- First Responder CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid certification and Epi Pen Training
- Excellent knowledge of the ocean and proper safety protocols
- Familiarity with tides, rip tides, lifeguard flags, and lifeguard training
- Surfing experience and comfort in the ocean
- Knowledge of ocean front beach sports such as volleyball, Kan Jam, and spike ball
- Ability to create new games and activities for non-swimming days
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with Village of OB lifeguards
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading our surf program and ensuring the safety of all participants
- Developing and implementing curriculum for our surf program
- Collaborating with other staff members to plan and deliver a comprehensive summer program
- Providing excellent customer service to parents and campers
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting as required
