Job Description:
The Intern role at OSJL is a paid, full-time, temporary role responsible for developing a broad knowledge of the Company in order to further build the OSJL brand. All interns will learn and benefit from weekly program educational experiences, as well as in-person and virtual networking opportunities. Each intern will give a final presentation to Ocean State Job Lot leadership and ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shadow multiple department members to gain understanding of individual roles in the department.
- Assist with projects, programs, as well as services to execute department objectives.
- Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Acquire an understanding of the business environment, conduct, compliance, and ethics of a retail organization.
- Effectively utilize virtual means to communicate efficiently and work independently under remote conditions.
Qualifications:
- Working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Strong academic credentials are required.
- Experience using Microsoft Suite and ability to learn and use Google platforms.
- Must have reliable transportation to attend program educational experiences at different Company locations.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule as determined by area leadership. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to take unpaid time off as well as to be flexible around the program end date.
Work Environment:

- Work can be completed within and outside of the Company locations:
- Within the Company locations, the intern may be assigned a Company computer.
- Outside of the Company locations, the intern is responsible to set up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. The intern may also bring their own device(s) to complete all work (e.g., all computer hardware and software, including audio and video capabilities for virtual meetings; and reliable Internet connection with ability to access the Google platforms for virtual meetings and applications used for work).

potential. - Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.

All undergraduate student interns will be paid $17/hr and graduate student interns will be paid $19/hr.
