Position Summary
As a Sr. OMR Engineering Manager for Oceaneering Mobile Robotics, you will lead a dynamic team of engineers, driving technical excellence, operational efficiency, and seamless technical project execution. This role requires a strategic thinker who can foster collaboration across global teams, deliver innovative solutions, and support customer satisfaction in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Reporting to the Director of Mobile Robotics, you will be responsible for building a world-class engineering team, managing project performance, and aligning engineering initiatives with business objectives.
OMR, a division of Oceaneering International Inc. (NASDAQ : OII), produces and maintains commercial autonomous vehicles. Supporting customers worldwide, our robots utilize natural feature navigation and service the healthcare, automotive, warehouse and manufacturing markets.
Duties & Responsibilities
LEADERSHIP AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Foster open communication and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
PROJECT AND DELIVERY MANAGEMENT
Drive end-to-end technical project delivery, ensuring on-time, high-quality outcomes.Oversee resource planning and allocation to support automation projects and after-sales service.Ensure alignment between engineering efforts and customer expectations.STRATEGIC PLANNING AND EXECUTION
Develop and implement strategies to optimize engineering processes, minimize risks, and ensure scalability.Collaborate with senior leadership to support business growth initiatives.Analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to enhance performance.CLIENT AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Cultivate strong relationships with clients, ensuring engineering solutions meet or exceed their requirements.Serve as a key point of contact between engineering, product development, and operations teams.Advocate for customer needs while maintaining a focus on operational excellence.Operational Excellence
Implement best practices in engineering design, documentation, and change management.Address design and performance issues to ensure delivery readiness and post-installation reliability.Promote a "measure twice, cut once" philosophy to minimize errors and ensure deployment success.Utilize offshore team and develop them to support ebbs and flow in the business.Build technical expertise to provide level 2 / Leve 3 technical support for problem solving.CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION
Work closely with product, project management, and onsite teams to align engineering efforts with overall goals.Support integration between automation teams and other business units, such as supply chain and quality.Act as a bridge between upper management's vision and practical engineering execution.Qualifications
REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Automation preferred).10 years of experience in engineering leadership, with a strong focus on automation or robotics.Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar engineering projects and delivering measurable results.Experience working in a global organization with cross-functional and international teams.Strong understanding of project and change management processes.Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.Proficiency in engineering software tools and project management platforms.Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.Adaptability to shifting market conditions and regulatory requirements.Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.DESIRED
Master’s degree in engineering management or business administration (MBA).Experience in the material handling or logistics industry.Certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma Green / Black Belt.Additional duties as assigned.TRAVEL
